With Horizon's Menus Made Easy service, our staff of school nutrition specialists do the inventory setup and menu planning for you. Horizon offers a full range of options to provide the level of service you need whether you currently use our menu planning software or not.

For customers with Horizon's Menu Planning software

Comprehensive includes:

• Meal pattern contributions and nutrient data entered for up to 800 inventory items, including attaching images of Nutrition Facts labels
• Up to 50 recipes entered with recipe photos attached
• Up to 40 base menus entered
• Two 4-week menu cycles entered
• Training session on running reports for meal pattern compliance and nutrient analysis
• Recommendations from Horizon School Nutrition Specialists for bringing menus into compliance with new regulations, if needed

Basic includes:

• Meal pattern contributions and nutrient data entered for up to 500 inventory items, including attaching images of Nutrition Facts labels
• Up to 25 recipes entered with recipe photos attached
• Up to 20 base menus entered
• One 4-week menu cycles entered
• Training session on running reports for meal pattern compliance and nutrient analysis
• Recommendations from Horizon School Nutrition Specialists for bringing menus into compliance with new regulations, if needed

A la carte:

• Meal pattern contributions and nutrient data entered for up to 200 inventory items, including attaching images of Nutrition Facts labels
• Entering or editing up to 25 recipes with recipe photos attached
• Entering base menus/menu cycle for additional meals and age groups
• Copying base menus/menu cycle to a new age groups

 

For customers without Horizon's Menu Planning software

Basic includes:

• 4-week preplanned breakfast and lunch menu cycle (Excel or PDF)
• Recipes with HACCP information (Excel or PDF)
• Menu Analysis (includes meal pattern analysis and nutrient analysis) for each week for one grade group (PDF)
• Up to 20 custom menu changes
• Included custom changes are menu items and recipe ingredients.
• Other changes are possible, but may incur additional fees
  

Add-on Options:

• Nutrition Analysis for additional grade groups
• Custom changes after 20
• Hard copies of menus, recipes, nutrient analysis

Consultant includes:

• District's breakfast and lunch menus are analyzed against new standards for three age groups (4-week cycle)
• District must provide CN label or food component contributions for menu items. If item is not in CN database, district must provide nutrition label.
• Recipes must be provided by district, unless Team Nutrition recipe used
• Horizon will make recommendations for menu changes to bring into compliance
• Once changes approved by district designee, menu analysis (includes meal pattern analysis and nutrient analysis) for each week will be provided for menu cycle
• New recipes with HACCP information provided

Menu Marketing includes:

• Everything in Basic Package
• Menus imported into professionally designed, full-color monthly calendar (PDF)
  

Creative Menus

Horizon’s menu marketing package will help promote your district’s healthy school meals and increase your sales. You will receive a monthly menu template with theme days, holidays, and nutrition tips for families. Just plug in your own menu, or one of ours, and distribute to your students. We’ve also allowed plenty of room for you to add announcements or messages.

Plus, for the back of the printed menus, we include a monthly newsletter with additional nutrition information and fun activities geared for the whole family.

If you are a Horizon Back Office user, the monthly themed templates can be selected when printing the Scheduled Menu Calendar. If you don’t use our back office, you can type your menu directly on the template.
